Iridium Modem

The Wingspeed Iridium Modem is a commercial aircraft communication device utilizing the Iridium satellite system. The product family includes either a single Motorola data modem, dual data modems, or a data and voice modem configuration. The avionics standard 3MCU box withstands environmental tests that include vibration conditions for both fixed and rotating wing aircraft. Cooper Perkins developed the mechanical components, all electrical hardware, and the low level software. Cooper Perkins designed a custom system board based on a TI DSP. In addition to all supervisory functions, the processor handles all communications routing and media translations.
