Saris: PowerTap
PowerTap
Saris
The PowerTap story started in 1998 after Gerhard left IDEO to found Tune. The Tune PowerTap® cycling computer and analysis software reduced the cost of power training for cyclists from $7,000 to $700. As co-founder and CEO, Gerhard conceived the business and product idea, assembled the team, raised venture funding, organized credit lines, landed US and European distribution deals, and finally negotiated the company’s acquisition. Cooper Perkins has continued to develop products and technology for Saris after Tune’s acquisition, including the conceptual design for the next version of the PowerTap hub.
